Gus Walton began his career with the City of University Park while he was in high school as a seasonal employee for the Parks Department from 1982 through August 1989. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Management from Wiley College.
Gus worked for Baylor Hospital in Dallas from December 1989 – February 1991 after graduation from college. Then he returned back to University Park in a full-time position as the Utility Billing Clerk. In 1997 he began his duties as a Communications Specialist in the 9-1-1 Communications Center and in 2019 was promoted to the Manager position.
Some of his duties include:
• Managing the 9-1-1 Communications Center
• Responsibility for TCIC Audits & CJIS Audits
• Facilitates the Training Program for newly hired Communications Specialists
• Processes bond monies
• Represents the City of University Park at Home Rule Managers Meetings & 9-1-1 DFW Managers Meetings
Gus Walton is married and has three children. He is a terrific baker, loves spending time off with his family and is very active with his church.
