Highland Park
Javier Salas

Javier Salas has worked for the Town of Highland Park’s Public Works Department since 1989. Over his 30+ years of distinguished service, he has been a two-time recipient of the Highland Park Employee of the Year Award, most recently in 2020. His supervisor, Superintendent Rick Sailler, describes Javier as “one of our silent heroes, performing multiple functions and assuming great responsibility to provide excellent service to the citizens of Highland Park.”

Javier can always be counted on to provide excellent service to Highland Park residents. For example, after the severe storms in September 2020, Javier was one of the first staff members on the scene, helping to remove several large, felled trees along Preston Road. Likewise, during Winter Storm Uri, he responded went above and beyond, responding to waterline breaks quickly and ensuring that residents’ time without water was as minimal as possible. Overall, Javier’s teamwork attitude and work ethic set a great example to all employees.
