Pat Brignon has been with the University Park Public Works Department for 29 years. During his 3-decade career, he has performed water, sewer, and street maintenance duties for the City. Pat is currently assigned to the asphalt truck and responsible for street repairs. During a recent string of breaks in the deteriorated water mains in Snider Plaza, Pat was assigned to make temporary asphalt repairs to the street following the work of another crew to repair the broken water mains. Pat arrived on the scene in the middle of the repair efforts. Without hesitation, Pat jumped right in to help repair the water main and restore service to the merchants and patrons of Snider Plaza. In the triple-digit heat of the Texas summer, Pat went above and beyond his job assignment to assist his coworkers. Once the main was repaired, he worked to make the pavement repairs to which he was originally assigned.
Pat brings this level of dedication to work every day. He never hesitates to utilize the knowledge and skills he has developed during his career to benefit the residents of University Park. We frequently receive compliments from residents regarding instances where Pat has gone above and beyond in responding to a need or request. Pat’s breadth of experience, dependability, and unwavering work ethic are a benefit to this community and his coworkers alike. His servant leadership is sincerely appreciated.
Pat is a second-generation University Park employee. His father had a successful career as a University Park firefighter. We are grateful to have Pat Brignon as a member of the City of UP Public Works team.
Laura Collins joined the Town of Highland Park’s Library staff in November 2018, and since then, she has become a favorite with library patrons as well as her coworkers. She has the ability to instantly make all visitors feel welcome and comfortable asking for help while visiting the Library.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, she completely transformed the Library’s in-person youth programs into popular virtual events. For example, she created a series of “To-Go” craft kits for children and teens available for curbside pickup while the Library was closed. The kits included all the needed supplies along with information to access an online video tutorial that Laura filmed and edited herself. She also hosts a twice-weekly toddler story time via Facebook Live and monthly virtual “crafternoons” in partnership with the University Park Library. Due to her many efforts to continue providing educational and entertaining programming during the pandemic, Laura was named a 2020 Highland Park Employee of the Year.

Name: Bobbie Quick
Classification: Community Volunteer
Birthday (mo/day): October 11
Favorite Restaurant: ilBracco
Favorite Hobby: Cooking, entertaining
Favorite Travel Spot: London, Rome, Naples, Sorrento - love travel!
Favorite Rotary Moment: I had just endured a week of Diversity and Inclusion training which I found very negative and disheartening. I attended a meeting alone and not in a good mood. Our speaker from the Mavericks was AMAZING - her comment that diversity is inviting someone to the party but inclusion is inviting them to dance made my heart happy!
Why did you join Rotary? When Paul and I moved to Dallas, he suggested we join together to become more involved in our community, make friends and build our new life together.
Interesting personal fact: 1. I once danced with Superman.

From Jeff McNaughton, President-Elect of RCPC and President of the RCPC Foundation - 2021-22
The Rotary Club of Park Cities' Communities Fund was originally sponsored in the 1960’s by the Rotary Club of Park Cities (“RCPC”) for the purpose of providing an enduring legal entity through which members and friends of the Rotary Club of Park Cities might make donations for the good of mankind and the Dallas community. The fund continues to this day to consider internal and external grant requests submitted on the RCPC Foundation online grant portal found on the club website.
The grant request approved at our May 2021 meeting includes:
• $4000 grant for scholarships for Hillcrest High School graduating seniors
The Executive Team denied the following two grant requests:
Children First
Family Compass
The Executive Team voted to roll over the remaining $7,152.81 available grant monies until the 2021-22 fiscal year, which starts on July 1, 2021.
According to the Fund’s Policies and Procedures dated November 8, 2011, Section 11. Tenure; Removal Non-Ex Officio members of the Executive Committee serve four year terms. The Executive Team recommended to the RCPC Board that Daniel Drabinski replace Cleve Clinton as a Non-Ex Officio member of the Executive Committee. The RCPC Board unanimously approved his nomination. His term will be held from 2021-2025.
The fund balance as of May 11, 2021 was $1,847,218.00 (almost $400K higher than this time last year). The Communities Foundation of Texas has done an incredible job managing the fund. The amount available each year for grants is derived from an average over 16 quarters (4 years), then, 4.5% of that amount is the amount available for distribution the following year.
Our Sgt. at Arms Kyle Marmillion, reported that the RCPC Foundation fund donations thru 4-30-21 totals $62,822.10 from 89 donors!
To the Foundation Fund: $6,422.10 from 37 donors
To the Bonton Clinic: $56,400.00 from 52 donors
Your contributions make an incredible difference in the amount we are able to distribute to worthy local organizations. Please consider making a contribution today. https://portal.cftexas.org/donate-park-cities-rotary
